How To Care For Your Narcissus Bouquet

To keep your Narcissus bouquet looking beautiful for as long as possible, follow the steps below:

✨ As is recommended for other cut flowers, it is necessary to trim the ends of the stems at a 45 degree angle every other day.  This prolongs the vase life by allowing the stems to drink more water. Be cautious though, Narcissus release an exudate that contains alkaloids and calcium oxalate crystals. So if you have sensitive skin please wear gloves.

✨ This exudate from the freshly cut Narcissus can shorten the vase life of some flowers like Tulips and Roses as it leaches into the water. But if you want to incorporate Narcissus with other flowers, you must let the freshly cut Narcissus sit in their own water for 6 hours so the exudate can leach out and the stems can callous a bit. Then you can wash the vase and the Narcissus can be placed in new, fresh water with other flowers.

✨ Place your bouquet of Narcissus in a clean vase with 2 inches of water. Make sure all the stem tips are in the water

✨ Change the vase water every other day

✨ Keep your bouquet out of direct sunlight and away from cold/hot drafts

✨ Keep your bouquet away from fruit and veggies as some give off ethylene gas which will age your flowers

✨ Remove spent flowers as needed

✨ Please be mindful that all parts of the Narcissus are toxic. Please don’t eat them or let your pets eat them.

 ✨ Enjoy!
